GOLF - Peak Form

In every sport there are specific patterns of repetitive trauma that eventually create stress injuries.

Football injuries effect joints, muscles, tendons and nerves while tennis stresses the carpal tunnel of the wrist and the elbow. Golf, on the other hand,  stresses the lumbar, cervical joints, spine and knees.

What the Sport Pros Know
Professional athletes in all sports know that an injury can cancel a career.  Consequently, they actively pursue each and every solution that can extend their careers.

It’s been estimated that about 20 golfers on the PGA Senior Tour wouldn’t be able to compete each week without  a variety of energy devices including magnets attached to knees, backs, elbows, necks, hips and other body areas.

One of the circuit’s biggest winners, Jim Colbert, credits his success to wide strip magnets he wears on his back. He also sleeps on a magnetic mattress. He said his back pain used to sideline him for a good part of the golf season.

Valuable Benefits for Olympians
Jack Scott, PhD, adviser to the U.S. Track and Field team for the past four Olympic Games has used magnets for several years and has observed how they reduce low-back tightness and pain.   “The relief from pain associated with conditions such as chronic lower back pain, tendonitis, hamstring pulls, jumper's knee and muscular inflammation has made me a great believer,” says Scott.

Recently, some pilot studies, using high tech energy devices, have shown beneficial results on wound healing, bone cell stimulation, arthritis, diabetic neuropathy, postpolio syndrome and fibromyalgia.
