Healing Rays of Infrared

For centuries, scientists have known that plants are dependent upon sunlight for photosynthesis. Today, we know that energy from the sun’s rays, photons,
controls vital processes in plants and people.  

In recent years, a new manufacturing process, using FIR ceramic fibers has made it possible to have the benefits of FIR radiant energy  indoors iwith comforters, sleep wear, vests, socks, sportswear and athletic wraps.  

Light Emitting Diodes (LED) 
The newest self care IR  devices utilize light  emitting diodes (LED) in the near-infrared range. LEDs were first used by NASA in plant experiments in the Space Lab. Plant cells  exposed to LED emissions grew  150% to 200%  faster than those cells not exposed. 
                                                
Later research, showing that LED’s accelerated the growth of human cells, led NASA to medical studies.  

Major Healing Benefits Discovered 
Early  testing indicated that diabetic skin ulcers and other wounds in mice healed much faster when exposed to the special LEDs in the lab. Human studies showed the same benefits. In fact, LEDs accelerated the growth of human muscle and skin cells up to five times faster than normal. 

In 2003, the Food and Drug Administration approved a multi-year investigation of the LEDs. The first research will focus on the LED’s effects on individuals with serious burns, crush injuries, radiation burns, skin grafts and diabetic skin ulcers. 

A separate project, is using LEDs to promote healing of acute mouth ulcers resulting from chemotherapy and radiation used to treat cancer in children.
